Dr. Vinay Gandharv was born and raised in a musically enriched family, inheriting a deep-rooted passion for the art. His early training came from his father, a Grade-A flute artist at All India Radio, Shimla, who instilled in him a profound understanding of classical music. Dr. Gandharv pursued sitar under the esteemed tutelage of Prof. Satish Sharma, an illustrious exponent of the "Imdadkhani Gharana" style, and continues to hone his craft under Prof. Harvinder Sharma, another maestro of the same lineage.

Dr. Gandharv holds both an M.Phil. and an M.A. in Sitar from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla.

His academic and artistic pursuits are deeply intertwined, and he is actively seeking opportunities to contribute to the growth of music education within established institutions. Dr. Gandharv's lifelong commitment to Indian classical music is reflected in his scholarly approach and his dedication to preserving and propagating the traditions of the "Imdadkhani Gharana."

डॉ. विनय गंधर्व का जन्म और पालन-पोषण एक संगीत-मय वातावरण में हुआ, जहाँ उन्हें संगीत की गहरी जड़ें विरासत में मिलीं। इनकी प्रारंभिक संगीत शिक्षा इनके पिता से हुई, जो ऑल इंडिया रेडियो, शिमला में ग्रेड-ए बांसुरी वादक हैं। इनके पिता ने उन्हें शास्त्रीय संगीत की गहरी समझ दी। डॉ. गंधर्व ने सितार की शिक्षा प्रसिद्ध "इमदादखानी घराने" के प्रतिपादक प्रो. सतीश शर्मा के मार्गदर्शन में प्राप्त की और आज भी उसी घराने के एक और महान गुरु, प्रो. हरविंदर शर्मा से इस कला को निखार रहे हैं।

डॉ. गंधर्व ने हिमाचल प्रदेश विश्वविद्यालय, शिमला से सितार में एम.फिल. और एम.ए. की डिग्री प्राप्त की है।

इनके शैक्षणिक और कलात्मक प्रयास एक-दूसरे के पूरक हैं, और ये स्थापित शैक्षणिक संस्थानों में संगीत शिक्षा के विकास में योगदान देने के लिए सक्रिय रूप से अवसरों की तलाश कर रहे हैं। डॉ. गंधर्व की भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीत के प्रति आजीवन प्रतिबद्धता इनके विद्वत्तापूर्ण दृष्टिकोण और "इमदादखानी घराने" की परंपराओं को संरक्षित और प्रचारित करने की इनकी निष्ठा में झलकती है।
